Essential Documents for Entry into Cambodia  

International travelers (visa-eligible nations) will require a valid passport with six months of validity to enter Cambodia. One blank page of the passport per entry stamp is a requirement. A Cambodia tourist visa for eligible nationalities is a must. However, there are some currency requirements for entry and exit. When entering Cambodia, travelers are advised to declare any amount more than 10000 USD.

Foreign currency can be taken out of the country at the time of exit up to the limit declared at customs at the time of entry.  Travelers from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations do not need a visa to enter Cambodia.

Cambodia eVisa  

Travelers from visa-eligible nations can apply for Cambodia eVisa. It is a single-entry visa and allows travelers to stay for a maximum of thirty days for tourism purposes. It costs 36 USD, and the visa fee is subject to change anytime. Cambodia does not have diplomatic relations with Kosovo. Hence, Kosovans do not have the right to enter the country as Cambodia does not recognize it as a sovereign state.  

Cambodia Visa Types  

Cambodia offers different types of visas to travelers:  

  1. Cambodia Tourist Visa(Type T)-It is also known as a Type-T visa and is available for general travelers. As a single-entry visa, it allows foreigners to stay up to thirty days within the country. It can be extended to another thirty days at the Cambodian Immigration office. Visitors with general passports can apply for the Cambodia Type T visa.  International visitors from Canada and non-US passport holders residing in America or Canada will need to present a valid residency card.  
  2. Khmer visa (Type K) - A Type K visa for Cambodia is granted to a child born outside Cambodia or to Cambodians only. It is not transferable to a new passport. It is a multiple-entry visa. Type K visa remains valid until the passport of the citizen expires. Travelers should note only one K visa can be issued per passport. It is a sticker visa that can be affixed to the passport of the visitor.  
  3. Cambodia Business Visa (Type E)- A single-entry visa valid for three months and allows travelers to stay for thirty days. Travelers should note that this visa is not refundable or transferable. In 2023, travelers can now apply for Cambodia Type E-Business Visa for business purposes, and this visa lasts 30 days. The visa processing time for a business visa in Cambodia is three business days. It can be obtained faster than the sticker visa from the Embassy. It can be downloaded and printed to enter Cambodia. Foreigners can also apply for a work permit in Cambodia within 30 days after their arrival. For this, they need to be employed by a local Cambodian organization within the first thirty days of arriving in the country. On the other hand, standard business travelers are not eligible for visa extensions in the country.  
  4. Courtesy Visa (Type C )- Cambodia Courtesy visa is offered to valid MoUs and Non-Government Organizations. It is valid for three months and renewable at Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is usually granted to those who have accepted volunteer work in the country.  
  5. Official Visa(Type B )- The processing time of a Type B visa for Cambodia is two to three weeks. Travelers are advised to secure this visa first before making any travel plans.  
  6. Diplomatic Visa (Type A)- Travelers should obtain this visa before making any travel plan. The visa processing for Cambodia Type A can take up to two to three weeks.  
  7. Transit Visa- Individuals traveling on the same arrival aircraft do not need a visa at Phnom Penh airport. Individuals transiting Cambodia, wherein they need to pass immigration, must check the entry requirements from the Embassy.  
  8. Visa-on-Arrival- Travelers from most nations (if eligible) can obtain a visa on arrival in Cambodia for business and tourism purposes. The validity of such a visa is 30 days. Individuals traveling for business reasons and those who have accepted employment can apply for this visa.  

Application Process for the Cambodia Visa 

Travelers can obtain a Cambodia visa from the Embassy or consulate. Additionally, applicants from visa-eligible countries can also apply for Cambodia eVisa.

Travelers from the United States of America  

American can go to the Embassy of Cambodia and submit a walk-in visa application between 10 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 3 pm from Monday to Friday. To avoid delays, applicants should submit a completed Cambodia visa form. They are advised to check the specific visa requirements from the embassy. American applicants can also send the application form for a Cambodia visa via mail with a prepaid return envelope that is addressed to the self with the tracking number to get back their passport.

Visitors should bring their eVisa certificate to Immigration before entering Cambodia. However, not all entry points support Cambodia eVisa, and visitors can apply for an on-arrival visa to Cambodia instead.  

Special Considerations for Visa Exemptions  

Cambodia visa can be waived for the following travelers:

Travelers with Ordinary passports  

Citizens of the Association of Southeast Asian Republic Nations (ASEAN) nations do not need a Cambodia visa to enter the country. The visitor’s nationality decides the length of their stay in Cambodia

Can I get the visa on arrival to Cambodia?

Yes you can. However, It is highly recommended for you to apply for the eVisa before you arrive in to Cambodia. There may be long lines at the airport for visa on arrival application and fee payment. This is why it’s important to have your visa ready prior to your departure to Cambodia. It’s also recommended the eVisa application be submitted and paid for at least 4 days prior to arrival.

I have plans to travel to Cambodia in a few months, can I submit my application now?

Yes you can. In the case the application is too far out to be reviewed by Immigration, it will placed in a queue and will be forwarded to Immigration within a month of arrival date. Once you apply, an email will be sent explaining the queue process.

If my visa is expired, can I still stay at Cambodia?

Yes. You are allowed to stay for up to 30 days after your date of entry. Even if your visa expires while you are in Cambodia, you are allowed to stay until the 30 days are up.

Im from the United Kingdom, do I need a visa?

Yes, British citizens will need a visa to enter Cambodia. The electronic visa (e-Visa) is available for easy application process for citizens from the UK. Process is the same for all eligible nationals.

My children are more than 12 years but they still travel using the parent’s passport, would they still require a eVisa?

Yes, all Children that are more than 12 years of age need a visa, regardless if they use their personal passport or that of their parents. A separate application will be needed for each child.

My picture upload is sideways, is that ok?

Yes that is ok. Our system is equipped with a photo editing software. We will fix photos that come in sideways or upside-down. We will also re-size any images that doesn’t fall under governments specifications, and review the image is per visa application guidelines.
