Turkey eVisa for Dutch Citizens

Citizens of the Netherlands who want to visit Turkey may not need a traditional visa, depending on the details of their travel. They do, however, need an eVisa.

Getting an eVisa is usually simple and straightforward. Here’s what Dutch visitors to Turkey need to know to make the process as simple and straightforward as possible.

What Do Dutch Citizens Need to Enter Turkey?

Before they can enter Turkey, people from the Netherlands need to have full permission from the Turkish government to do so. This can take a couple of different forms.

People visiting Turkey short term can often qualify for the eVisa program. They can get this if they are traveling as tourists, visiting family, or visiting for certain business purposes.

If citizens of the Netherlands don’t have time to get an eVisa before they visit Turkey, they can get a visa upon arrival. This involves standing in more lines at the border, though.

Dutch citizens can also get a traditional visa to enter Turkey. This is what they need if their travel purposes extend beyond those permitted on the eVisa.

It is up to every traveler to make sure they have the correct permission to enter Turkey. They can verify this online or with a Turkish embassy or consulate before they travel.

What is an eVisa for Turkey?

The Turkey eVisa gives people formal permission to enter Turkey without requiring them to go through the process of getting a traditional visa.

Because the entire eVisa process takes place on line, it is simpler than the traditional visa process and goes much, much faster.

The eVisa for Turkey tells the Turkish government who is in their country, what they are doing there, and how they can be contacted in case of an emergency.

Given the rise of international terrorism over the last decades, this document increases Turkey’s border security. Both travelers and citizens are safer than they were before.

Multi-entry eVisas and visas are available to people from the Netherlands. They will need to indicate that this is what they want when they are in the application process.

The eVisa permits only short stays in Turkey. Most of the eVisas allow travelers to stay for up to 90 days, though some may be longer or shorter depending on the specifics of the visa.

Dutch citizens will not need an eVisa for Turkey if they are only transiting the country and will not leave the International Travelers Area of the airport.

If they do wish to leave for any reason, however, they will need permission in order to do so. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Turkey Visa vs eVisa

A Turkey visa also gives travelers permission to enter the country. However, visas are harder to get than eVisas, as they usually require sending in documents and may require an interview.

However, sometimes that process is necessary when the eVisa will not cover a visitor’s travel plans.

If they want to stay in Turkey for longer than 90 days or travel for a purpose not covered by the eVisa, they must get a traditional visa in order to complete their trip.

For the most part, citizens of the Netherlands can get by on an eVisa. They will need to make sure their travel complies with the rules surrounding that document, though.

How to Get a Turkey eVisa

It is so easy for Ducth travelers to get an eVisa for Turkey. They only need to gather a few items and pieces of information before they start the application.

First, they need a valid email address. All of their correspondence about their eVisa will be received electronically, so this should be an address they check (or can check) regularly.

They will also need a credit card, debit card, or prepaid card to submit the processing fee for the eVisa. The online system will accept Mastercard, Visa, or UnionPay cards.

A trustworthy internet connection is also essential for completing the eVisa application. After all, the entire process is done online!

Applicants can use any internet-connected device to apply for an eVisa. This includes their mobile phones, tablets, computers, laptops, and more!

Finally, travelers need a valid passport from the Netherlands. This needs to be currently valid and to remain valid for at least 60 days beyond the time the eVisa will permit them to stay.

If they do not have a valid passport or it will not maintain validity for an acceptable period of time, they will need to replace it before they apply to enter Turkey.

Completing the Application

Filling out the application for the eVisa usually only takes about 10 minutes. Natvisa offers a user-friendly version of the application, to make the process even more efficient.

Travelers always need to take care that every piece of data they enter on the application is accurate and does not contain typing mistakes.

Turkey does not allow travelers to reenter information after the application is submitted. If travelers find mistakes, they will have to begin again with a brand new application.

This includes paying the application fee a second time!

Most travelers prefer to fill out the application for a Turkish eVisa in one sitting, though they can take more than one if they need to. It’s so fast that most don’t require that option.

Personal History

The application will request certain details about the traveler’s history, including political affiliations, previous travelers, arrests and convictions, and more.

This data helps the government ensure that dangerous people do not enter Turkey.

The data here will be run against several databases, so travelers need to be straightforward and honest about their past.

Passport Information

The application will also request some passport information, like the passport number, date of issue, and more.

This needs to be entirely accurate and needs to match what is on the passport exactly. If it doesn’t, the application will be rejected and the traveler will need to reapply.

Personal Information

Finally, the eVisa for Turkey application will ask for some personal information, like the visitor’s address in their home country and more.

This data helps the government verify the person’s identity, thus expediting the eVisa application process.

Getting & Using the Turkey eVisa

Most people from the Netherlands don’t have any problems getting a Turkey eVisa. In fact, the majority find out immediately that their applications have been accepted.

Upon acceptance, travelers will need to pay for their eVisa, then download the appropriate paperwork. This will be sent to the email address they provided.

They can download the eVisa, then choose whether or not they want to print it. Printing may not be necessary, but it can expedite the entry process and eliminate potential confusion.

Does Having an eVisa for Turkey Guarantee Entry Into Turkey?

Immigration officials always have the final decision when it comes to who does and does not get to enter their country. All travelers will also need to comply with all relevant customs laws.

Officials may request even more documentation at the Turkish border. They may want to see evidence of ongoing or return travel within the time allowed by the visa.

They may also want proof that the traveler has funds to cover the cost of their trip.

As long as travelers can show the requested documents, they should be able to enter Turkey without problems.

Once there, they can enjoy everything Turkey has to offer and complete their travel goals in the country.
