Mexico Visa for Eritrean Citizens

Visit Mexico by Land or Air
Known for its natural features and blazing temperature, Baja California Sur is Mexico’s melding of desert and ocean. This is the reason that it always tops the charts as one of the 10 best tourist spots in Mexico.
You would love to visit this country, wouldn’t you? Just like other tourists, a Mexico Tourist Card is what Eritrean citizens would need to go to this country, besides a visa.

The National Immigration Institute grants this Card, basically for tourism. Those travelling from Eritrea would need a visa to enter Mexico. To apply for the Mexico visa, they can contact the embassy.

Whether you enter Mexico via air or land, you must have a Mexico Tourist Card. With the launch of the Electronic System in 2015, applying for it online which is also specifically advised, has become easy. Besides, keen travelers also have the option to apply for it 30 days after they reach Mexico.

Steps to get a Mexico Tourist Card
Applying for a Mexico Tourist Card – The Online Way

Since the process is electronic, it is quick and hassle-free. These three simple steps encompass the entire online process:

Filling the Online Form: Eritreans must fill the information asked for online. It is a smart move to go through the information again just to make sure that it has been filled right. Misinformation or incorrect details are the biggest reasons for rejection of the application.

Applicants Need Not Upload Any Documents: The online process does not require the applicants to submit any document. They must, however, fill in a valid passport number for successful closure of the application process.

Paying the Fee: After filling the information, the fee needs to be paid using a credit or debit card.

The Tourist Card will soon be emailed to the applicant on the email id given in the form after it has been processed.

Just in case the email system creates a problem, travelers must download and print the travel document. It is a good idea.

They must take hard copies of both sides of the Mexico Tourist Card and keep it with them on their trip to the country. These documents are checked by the immigration officials at the airport.

For Applicants to Keep in Mind

Mexico Tourist Card only permits trips for tourism. It prohibits engaging in any kind of employment or paid activity during the trip. Eritreans must keep printouts of this travel document with care while entering the country through any Mexican airport. While applying online, tourists must provide details (Airline Name and Flight Number) of their arrival flight in Mexico.

The online system does not require submitting any document. Travelers from Eritrea, when applying for a Mexico Tourist Card, must keep the following ready:

  1. A passport with 180-day validity since their arrival in Mexico.

  2. Their landing flight details such as airline name and flight number

To Enter Mexico

To enter Mexico, Eritreans need a Mexico Tourist Card, a visa and a valid passport. The passport validity should not be less than 180 days and also must be the same one used to apply for the visa. The immigration officials at the Mexico Airport will go through these three documents.

Submitting an Application for the Mexico Visa

Visitors to Mexico, be it on leisure or simple travel, or those in-transit, must compulsorily have a valid Mexico Tourist Visa and a Tourist Card. Eritrean nationals can go to any Mexican embassy in any country and apply for a Mexico visa from there.

The amount of time to process a Mexico visa is not the same for every Mexican embassy. Therefore it is sensible for Applicants to schedule a session with the corresponding Mexico embassy to apply for a Mexico visa a minimum of 4 weeks before they decide to travel.

A Mexico visa can be applied for at a Mexican embassy in the applicant’s domicile country (or in any other country). The application process comprises the following steps:

  1. Fixing an appointment with the Mexico embassy

  2. Mexico Visa Application Form Completion

  3. Preparing the relevant documents

  4. Submitting the application and

  5. Paying for the visa

Applicants from Eritrea can refer to the Mexico embassy's website for details on the time they take to process a Mexico visa. Also, applicants can speak to the embassy officials to get this information. It is important to know this since every embassy has a different timeframe for visa processing.

One embassy might take 2 working days, whereas the other might take 10 working days. By the way, some embassies advise applicants to schedule their appointment at least four weeks before their travel.
