ETIAS for Salvadorian Citizens

Many travelers from El Salvador love to visit Europe. By 2021, these visits will be even safer than they are now. Europe is working to implement the European Travel Information & Authorization System, or ETIAS. This system screens travelers from countries, like SV, whose citizens are not required to have a visa to enter Europe. It prevents dangerous people or those possibly carrying communicable diseases from coming into the Schengen Zone.

Salvadorian citizens are eligible for ETIAS

How to Obtain an ETIAS Visa Waiver

The ETIAS for citizens from El Salvador is not a visa. Instead, it is a visa waiver, similar to those now issued by the United States and Australia. The ETIAS visa waiver is easy to get and even easier to use!

Travelers will apply for their ETIAS visa waiver online. The application is easy and has step-by-step instructions. It only takes most people 10-15 minutes to fill it out and submit it.

In order to apply for an ETIAS visa waiver, travelers from SV will need:

  • Their current Salvadorian passport, with at least 6 months left on it.
  • A valid credit card. This will ONLY be used to pay the ETIAS visa waiver application fee.
  • An email address that they can check regularly.

Travelers will need to enter all personal information exactly as it appears on their passports. They will also need to be ready to enter information about previous travels, especially to places where there was political or social unrest. The application for an ETIAS for citizens from El Salvador will also ask applicants about their affiliations with certain groups, arrest and conviction records, and more.

Once submitted, it takes somewhere between a few minutes and 2 weeks for travelers to receive ETAIS visa waiver approval. They will be notified by email when this happens.

Using the ETIAS Visa Waiver for Europe

The ETIAS visa waiver for Europe is easy to use because it is tied to the traveler’s passport. European officials will just scan the passport and ETIAS visa waiver approval will show up on their screens. Travelers do not need to carry physical documentation of ETIAS visa waiver approval, though they are welcome to do so if it makes them more comfortable.

The ETIAS for citizens from El Salvador grants travel permission for up to 3 years or until the current passport expires, whichever comes first. As long as travelers enter the Schengen Zone through the same city every time, they won’t need to get another visa waiver until that one expires.

Travelers on an ETIAS visa waiver for Europe can stay for up to 90 days and can cross borders within the Schengen Zone without needing any further permission. Everyone traveling will need his or her own ETIAS visa waiver, even small children.

It’s easy to get an ETIAS for citizens from El Salvador. Travelers can apply for a visa waiver ASAP and travel soon, knowing they are safer in Europe than they have ever been before.
