ETIAS for Moldovan Citizens

Visiting the Schengen Zone from Moldova is quick and easy and it’s about to get a lot safer. By 2021, the governments of the Schengen Zone countries are going to implement the European Travel Information and Authorization System, or ETIAS. This system will screen travelers from countries whose citizens do not require a visa to enter the area to make sure they are safe and are not likely to carry dangerous communicable diseases.

Moldovan citizens are eligible for ETIAS

Getting an ETIAS for Citizens from Moldova

Applying for an ETIAS visa waiver is a quick and easy process. The application is designed to be filled out online so that travelers do not need to visit an embassy or a consulate and do not need to relinquish their passports for any period of time.

It takes most applicants 10-15 minutes to complete and submit the application. This process goes faster if travelers have the following items gathered before they start applying. They will need:

  • A valid credit card to pay the ETIAS visa waiver application fee.
  • An email address. All communication about their ETIAS for Moldovan citizens will go to this address, so it needs to be one that they plan to check regularly.
  • Their current passport from MD. If this does not have at least 6 months of validity left, they will need to renew it before applying for the ETIAS visa waiver for Europe.

The visa waiver asks questions about the applicant’s personal information, their affiliations with any dangerous groups, and their previous travel. Everything entered needs to match their passport exactly or they will have to reapply for the ETIAS visa waiver.

The Schengen Zone countries have purposefully kept the fee for an ETIAS for citizens from MD and other countries low so that it does not prevent people from traveling. Upon submission of the application and payment of this fee, applicants will have completed the process. They can then wait and watch their email to hear back on their application status.

How to Use an ETIAS Visa Waiver for Europe

Once an ETIAS for Moldovan citizens has been granted, it is tied electronically to the traveler’s passport. When the passport gets scanned as the traveler enters the Schengen Zone, officials will see that they have an approved ETIAS visa waiver on file and allow them to enter.

The ETIAS visa waiver for Europe is good for up to 3 years. If the person’s passport expires before that, then it is good until the passport expires. However, the traveler must enter through.
