ETIAS for Mauritian Citizens

Visiting Europe from Mauritius can be a great way to make many travel dreams come true! By 2021, these trips will be even safer, too. That’s because the governments of Schengen Zone countries are implementing the European Travel Information and Authorization System, or ETIAS. This system is designed to keep potentially dangerous people out of the Schengen Zone and lower the risk of both terrorist attacks and the passing of communicable diseases.

Applying for an ETIAS for Citizens from Mauritius 

It’s easy to get an ETIAS for Mauritian citizens. Since travelers from MU don’t need a visa to enter Europe, they will instead apply for an ETIAS visa waiver. This application is designed to be completed entirely online, without any embassy visits or physical passport handling. 

The application itself only takes 10-15 minutes to fill out and travelers should hear back about their ETIAS visa waiver status within a few weeks. Most travelers will hear back much sooner than that, though! However, a slow response should not cause stress and anxiety. Sometimes, the system will be slower than it is at other times. 

Applicants can make the application process go faster by gathering the following items before they fill out the application itself. They will need: 

• A valid credit card. This is only for paying the ETIAS visa waiver application fee and won’t be stored by the website. 

• Their current passport from Mauritius. If this does not have at least 6 months of validity left on it, the traveler should renew it before applying for an ETIAS visa waiver for Europe. 
• An email address. This should be something that they can check regularly until they hear back about the status of their ETIAS for citizens from Mauritius. 

Utilizing the ETIAS Visa Waiver for Europe 

An approved ETIAS visa waiver will be electronically connected to the traveler’s passport. Thus, the traveler will be able to scan his or her passport and have the immigration officials see ETIAS visa waiver approval on their screens. This expedites the entry process. 

A single ETIAS visa waiver for Europe will be valid for either 3 years or until the traveler’s current passport expires, whichever comes first.
