ETIAS for Malaysian Citizens

Visiting Europe from Malaysia is about to get even safer than it already is. By 2021, governments of Schengen Zone countries will implement the European Travel Information and Authorization System, aka ETIAS. This system allows travelers from countries like Malaysia, who do not need visas to visit Europe, to instead enter on a visa waiver system. Travelers who may pose a danger to either other travelers or to European citizens will not be permitted entry into the Schengen Zone.

Malaysian citizens are eligible for ETIAS

The ETIAS Visa Waiver Application

It’s easy to get an ETIAS for citizens from MY. In fact, it usually only takes 10-15 minutes to fill out the entire application. Travelers can complete the entire process online so that they never need travel to a consulate or give up their passport for any length of time.

The application for an ETIAS visa waiver for Europe goes even faster when travelers have their documentation together before they try to fill it out. They will need:

  • A valid credit card. The website will not store this but will only use it to pay the ETIAS visa waiver application fee.
  • An email address. Travelers need to be able to check this regularly so they will be updated on the status of their ETIAS for Malaysian citizens.
  • Their current passport from Malaysia. This should be valid for at least 6 months beyond their application date. If it isn’t, they will need a new Malaysian passport before they travel to Europe.

Each part of the application has steps that are clear and concise, so travelers shouldn’t have any trouble entering their information. They should, however, check to ensure that all information they enter matches exactly what is written on their passport. If it doesn’t match, they will have to reapply for an ETIAS visa waiver and pay the fee again.

Many travelers hear back very quickly that their ETIAS for citizens from Malaysia has been approved. Others may not hear back for several weeks. Processing time depends on many factors and travelers should not get discouraged.

Getting the Most Out of an ETIAS Visa Waiver for Europe

Once an ETIAS for Malaysian citizens has been issued, it is valid for up to 3 years. If the traveler’s passport expires sooner than that, the ETIAS visa waiver for Europe will only be valid as long as the passport is. To use their ETIAS visa waiver again, Malaysian citizens will need to enter Europe through the same city every time. If they wish to switch cities, they will just need to get a new visa waiver.

Since travelers from MY can stay in Europe for up to 90 days at a time, they should be able to complete their sightseeing or business easily. If they need longer, they will need to get a different kind of visa before they travel.

The ETIAS for citizens from Malaysia is easy to get and makes travel to Europe safer than it has ever been before!
