ETIAS for Guatemalan Citizens

Visitors from GT to the Schengen Zone in Europe need to know about the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), to be implemented by the year 2021. This system requires travelers from countries that do not need a visa in order to visit Europe to instead get a visa waiver.

The system is designed to keep both travelers and residents of the Schengen Zone safer. By denying entry to those who may have terrorist affiliations, dangerous political affiliations, or who may have been exposed to communicable diseases, the government aims to keep everyone who is allowed in happier and healthier.

Guatemalan citizens are eligible for ETIAS

The ETIAS Visa Waiver Application Process

Getting an ETIAS for Guatemalan citizens is easy. The application is available online and includes easy-to-follow directions for each step. Most applicants find that it only takes 10-15 minutes to fill out the entire thing. The ETIAS visa waiver fee is also low so that it does not keep anyone from applying.

To make the process even faster, travelers should gather the following things before they start the application.

  • Their current, valid passport from Guatemala. If this does not have at least 6 months left on it, the traveler will need to get a new passport before applying for the ETIAS visa waiver for Europe.
  • An email address that they can check regularly.
  • A credit card. This will only be used to pay the ETIAS visa waiver application fee and will not otherwise be stored, kept, or used in any way.

The application for an ETIAS for citizens from Guatemala includes questions about:

  • The traveler’s personal information. This needs to be entered exactly as it appears on their passport.
  • Information about previous travels, particularly to areas where there were communicable diseases being spread or where there was political and/or social unrest.
  • Information about group affiliations and previous arrests and/or convictions.

Travelers should check their email regularly after they submit their ETIAS visa waiver application. Within a few weeks, they should hear back as to whether it was approved or not, though some travelers may hear much sooner than that.

Important Facts About the ETIAS Visa Waiver for Europe
