ETIAS for Bosnia and Herzegovina Citizens

Travelers from Bosnia and Herezegovina will soon need a different kind of authorization in order to travel to the EU countries and other countries in the Schengen Zone. This authorization is not difficult to obtain but it will be essential by 2021. These new rules should not make travelers hesitate to visit the area. In fact, many may feel like the rules offer them better protection than they had traveling in Europe before.
Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens are eligible for ETIAS

How Does the ETIAS Visa Waiver for Europe Work?

The European Travel Information and Authorization System, or ETIAS, is designed to flag travelers who may present a danger to citizens and other visitors to the Schengen Zone. It flags those who may be involved in terrorist activities, those who may be part of extremist organizations, and those who may have been exposed to serious illness, among others. It also allows European officials to know which travelers are in the area in case they need to notify them or find them in an emergency.

The system is similar to those already in use in Australia and the United States. It is not a visa system, but instead processes people and deems them worthy of a visa waiver for up to 3 years or until their current passport expires, whichever comes first. Once they enter the Schengen Zone through the city listed on their ETIAS visa waiver, they can travel throughout the zone freely, without any further documentation.

The ETIAS for citizens from Bosnia and Herzegovina permits stays up to 90 days for business or pleasure. Travel for other purposes will require other types of authorization.

How to Get an ETIAS Visa Waiver

Applying for the ETIAS visa waiver for Europe is easy. The application is here and it only takes most travelers about 15 minutes to complete. Travelers can streamline the ETIAS visa waiver application process by collecting the following items before they start:

  • Their current passport from BA, with at least 6 months left on it.
  • A working email address.
  • A valid credit card.

Travelers need to be prepared to enter their personal information exactly as it appears on their passport. They will also need to answer questions about:

  • Their health information, specificially information about exposure to communicable diseases or their presence in areas where these diseases have been spreading.
  • Information about their previous travels, particularly in areas where there was unrest.
  • Social information, including info on previous arrests and convictions, membership in certain groups, etc.

Most people get their ETIAS for citizens from Bosnia and Herzegovina approved almost immediately. Other travelers may have to wait several weeks. Either way, final notice will be sent to their email address. At that point, they can print off a hard copy of their ETIAS visa waiver to Europe to carry with them because they are ready to travel.

Getting into the Schengen Zone is still fun and easy, and now it’s safer than ever, too, with the new ETIAS visa waiver system!
