How to Apply for Business Visa

For American Passport Holders
  • They must complete and sign the visa application form with a US passport photograph stapled to it.

  • They must include two 2” x 2” high-definition passport photos with a white background taken less than six months ago.

  • They must submit two copies of the letter from the company mentioning the purpose of the travel and financial guarantees for the applicant.

  • They must include two copies of the information page of their passport alongside the actual passport.

For Non-American Passport Holders

  • They must complete and sign the visa application form alongside one photo, and one copy of the application form should be submitted.

  • They must include two 2” x 2” HD passport photographs with white background not older than 6 months.

  • Two copies of the information page of their passport alongside the actual passport.

  • TWO Photocopies of valid U.S. Visa or green card.

  • Two copies of a letter from the company indicating the purpose of the trip as well as a financial guarantee for the applicant. This letter should state the name of the applicant, the company they work for, the work they will be doing in Egypt, and the travel/return dates.

  • They must include TWO photocopies of a round-trip ticket.

If the Applicant is from a country that requires pre-approval

They must complete and sign an Egypt business visa form and include one photo on the form as well as one copy of the application form with a photo attached.

  • They must include two 2” x 2” HD passport photographs with white background.

  • They must submit two copies of the scanned information page of their valid passport with a minimum of one empty visa page.

  • They must submit two copies of a valid US visa or green card.

  • They must submit two copies of a company-written letter describing the purpose of the trip as well as information about the applicant, such name, company, the purpose of the trip, duration of visit, and travel/return dates. This letter should also include a financial guarantee for the applicant.

There are also some medical requirements that the applicant must satisfy, such as presenting a yellow fever certificate for travelers who have traveled through a yellow fever risk area.

A polio-vaccination certificate is also a requirement for travelers coming from polio-infected countries.

Different Ways to get the Egypt Business Visa

At present, the government of Egypt does not issue a business visa online. Foreigners who wish to travel to Egypt for business need to complete the online application form.

They have to sign it and submit it directly at the nearest Egyptian Embassy along with all the supporting documents. 

What Can be Done with This Visa?

The business visa for Egypt is a travel authorization granted to foreigners to visit the country for the purpose of carrying out various business activities. They can visit Egypt to attend business meetings, seminars and conferences. 

Foreigners who arrive in Egypt with a business visa can also negotiate and sign business contracts with other companies, tour a factory or other business facilities and attend trade fairs. 

How to Open a Business in Egypt (for foreigners)?

Foreign companies planning to open a branch in Egypt must get a contract as per the Companies Law of the country.

This law allows foreign ventures to open a branch in the country and carry out works that are of contractual in nature like construction.

They have to register at the nearest commercial registration office in the country and appoint a manager who will represent the company in Egypt. The manager can be of any nationality. 

Foreigners can start a Limited Liability Company (LLC) provided they pay the capital in full at the time of application. There should be a minimum of two partners to establish an LLC in Egypt.

They can be of any nationality and must appoint a manager to represent them in the country. They should also comply with the corporate governance laws of the country. 

The Companies Law also allows non-Egyptian citizens to invest in joint stock companies. To establish a JSC, there should be at least three founders and they should invest a minimum of EGP 250,000 as capital.

About 10% of the investment should be made during the formation of the JSC and the rest during the course of five years. A JSC must be managed by a board of directors with at least three members. 

The recent amendment to the Companies Law also allows a single person company to start business in the country provided they follow all the rules and regulations.
