India Reinstates the eVisa for Tourists

India Reinstates Visa

Recently, the Indian government has reopened the country for tourists. While India had slowly reopened for other travel purposes, like business travel and diplomatic travel, they have been closed to tourists for months.

While travelers can now visit India for recreational purposes once again, there are still some things they need to know. The information here will help travelers visit India for tourist reasons.

Which eVisas are Available?

Right now, all travelers applying for a eVisa must apply for a 30 day visa and must use the visa within 120 days. Previously, India also issued 1-year and 5-year eVisas, but these are not currently available.

Travelers who are not eligible for an eVisa can also apply for a regular tourist visa, as the country has reopened to these, too.

What Do Travelers Need to Know About Entering India?

Travelers who have eVisas that were issued before October 6, 2021 may not enter the country on those visas. They will need to reapply and obtain a new eVisa, or they will need to wait until entry on their visa is allowed.

As of October 15, 2021, travelers on flights chartered for group travel purposes may enter India. Individual tourists can enter the country starting November 15, 2021.

However, travelers are not permitted to enter India via land border crossings or river routes. They must stick to flying into the country until further notice.

Apply for an Indian eVisa for Tourists

It’s easy to get a new India eVisa for tourists. In fact, travelers can fill out an online application and get their visa approved even faster.

In order to apply for a eVisa for India, travelers need to make sure they have a valid passport from their home country, and that their home country qualifies for an eVisa.

They will need to fill out information from their passport, like their name, date of birth, and more. Travelers need to make sure that all the information they fill out for the government is valid.

It also needs to match exactly the data that is on their passport. If there are typographical or other errors, their eVisa will not be approved and they will need to apply again, with the correct information, before they can enter India.

Travelers will be asked for other information as well. This includes how and when they plan to enter India, their travel plans while in the country, and how and when they plan to leave.

They may also need to fill in data about any criminal activities they may have been involved in, any other trips they have taken, and more.

Once they have completed the application and they are sure the data is accurate, they need to pay the application fee and submit it. They will receive notification via email when their visa has been processed.

If it is approved, they are ready to visit India. Now, they can take the trip of a lifetime and see everything this amazing country has to offer.
