Regular Tourist Electronic Visa (eVisa) is granted to applicants who intend to travel to Azerbaijan for recreation, culture, sports, medical and private purposes. For initiating the process of obtaining a visa, the steps are as follows:
Documents Needed for Azerbaijan Visa
Documents that assure sound financial condition of the applicant. This is to ensure that the person travelling to the country has enough money to survive during his/her stay. A document that will provide a proof of your purpose of visit, duration of stay, category (both single and multiple entries), government-issued document carrying permanent address and residence address.
A notarized document of the applicant's birth certificate. For issuance of visa to a stateless or a foreigner under the age of 18 years, travelling without a legal representative, guardian or parent, the foreigner needs to show a document of permission from their legitimate representative.
If the applicant has applied for Azerbaijan eVisa through an authorized agent then the office will need the ID of the agent and applicant's notary attested authorization letter.
Visiting Azerbaijan by Private Invitation
For an individual travelling to Azerbaijan by invitation from a private individual of Azerbaijan, the following documents are to be submitted:
- A copy of the receiving person's ID.
- Invitation letter.
- Bank certificate.
An invitation letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan is valid only for one month. Invitations are processed in the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan Visa on Arrival for Select Countries
Citizens from the following countries will be granted immediate visa-on-arrival that will be valid for 30 days. The visa will be granted at the international airports of Azerbaijan. These countries are Kuwait, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Oman, Turkey, Bahrain, Malaysia, Qatar, People's Republic of China and Republic of Korea.
Who Else Can Apply for the Azerbaijan Visa?
As per the Decree number 326 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, dated September 13, 2010, if a stateless person or a foreign citizen wants to obtain a visa to Azerbaijan, they will be provided one, only if they fall under the following categories.
- In cases where intergovernmental and interstate treaties are envisaged by the Republic of Azerbaijan
- Individuals who are visiting Azerbaijan on an official invitation from the Prime-Minister, the Head of the Administration of the President, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis (Parliament), or the Head of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
- Individuals visiting the country of Azerbaijan by the official invitation of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Head of Special Medical Service of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Department, the Head of Administrative Department of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the heads of the central executive power bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the management of the National Olympic Committee of the country, the Chairman (Governor) of the Central Bank of the Republic, heads of the foreign companies operating in the country, the Chairman of the Republic's Supreme Court, in accordance with international treaties that have been supported by the country and agreed with the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
- Members of the technical, administrative and diplomatic staff of the foreign diplomatic missions, offices and consulates of the international organizations in the Republic of Azerbaijan and family members and foreign citizens visiting the country, with special diplomatic missions.
- Those visiting the Republic because of official invitation received from the country's Ministry of Emergencies to participate in emergencies.
